How it goes on the wall

Each piece goes on individually, working out from the jigs, so the map is built on the wall rather than hung on it. The jigs, the mounting tape and a printed step-by-step guide are in the box.

In Pune we will come and install it for ₹1,000 — add it at checkout. Everywhere else you fit it yourself. The work is careful rather than difficult.

Before you start

The wall needs to be smooth, dry and sound. Not a wall with seepage, not fresh plaster or fresh paint, not a covered balcony or a bathroom.

It is fixed to stay

The adhesive is strong, and it is meant to be. Decide the position before you start.

In the box

The map: Every cut piece, flat packed in a single rigid box
Compass: The Artlas compass, carrying true north
Assembly guide: Printed, step by step
Mounting tape: One roll. Nothing else is needed to fit the map
Jigging fixtures: Alignment jigs for the whole map, so every piece lands in position
Decorative parts: Ships and planes
Country pins: Odyssey only. Pins sit flush in the provided holes

Will it damage my wall?

The adhesive is strong, and it is meant to be. On wallpaper, or on a wall with thin or weak paint, taking the map off will pull the paint away or tear the paper. Installing it is a one-time job — decide the position before you start. We would rather tell you this before you order than after.

Can it be moved later?

No. Each piece is fixed with strong double-sided adhesive and that adhesive is single use. An Artlas map is not made to come down and go up again. That is the point of it.

What happens in humidity?

It is real wood, so it moves a little with the room. Keep it indoors on a dry, sound wall. Not a wall with seepage, not a bathroom, not a covered balcony or anywhere open to weather.

Do I install it myself?

In Pune, we can do it for ₹1,000 — add it at checkout. Everywhere else, yes: the jigs and the printed assembly guide are in the box.
