Terms of service

These terms cover shopartlas.com and everything bought on it. By placing an order you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not order.

Who you are dealing with

1 · What we sell

Layered wooden world maps, laser cut and hand finished in Pune, made to order.

Each product page carries the exact size of the map, the series, the woods, the depths, and what is in the box. Those measurements are of the map itself — there is no frame, so they are the wall space the map takes.

2 · Ordering

An order becomes a contract when we confirm it and your payment clears — not when you click Add to cart.

We may decline or cancel an order, and refund you in full, if:

• the product or the price was listed wrongly because of an obvious error;
• we cannot make or deliver it — a pin code the courier will not serve, for example;
• we believe the order is fraudulent;
• the order looks like a bulk or resale order placed as a retail one. For trade and bulk enquiries, write to hello@shopartlas.com.

3 · Prices and payment

All prices are in Indian rupees and are MRP, inclusive of GST. Shipping is free across India and its cost is already inside the price.

Installation in Pune is ₹1,000 and is charged separately at checkout.

Payment is taken in full at checkout, through our payment gateway. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.

We can change prices at any time. A change never affects an order already confirmed.

A GST invoice is issued for every order.

4 · Made to order

Your map is cut and finished for your order, in the series and the size you chose.

This is the single most important thing on this page, because everything else follows from it: once cutting has started, your order cannot be cancelled and the map cannot be returned for change of mind. The window and the exceptions are on the returns and cancellation page, which forms part of these terms.

5 · Delivery

Delivery timelines, tracking and what to do about a damaged box are on the shipping page, which forms part of these terms.

Timelines are honest estimates, not guarantees. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery — but a box that arrives damaged is covered by the returns page, provided you report it within 7 days with the photographs described there.

6 · Installation

In Pune, installation is available for ₹1,000, booked at checkout and scheduled by WhatsApp after payment.

The wall must be smooth, dry, sound and ready. If our team arrives and the wall is unsuitable — damp, freshly painted, freshly plastered, wallpapered, or not the wall you described — we will not fit the map, and we will tell you why before anything is fixed. We refund ₹500 of the ₹1,000; the remaining ₹500 is a call-out charge covering the visit.

Elsewhere in India you fit it yourself. The jigs, the mounting tape and the printed guide are in the box. We are not responsible for damage to your wall, to your property or to the map caused by self-installation.

7 · The map is permanent

An Artlas map is fixed to the wall with strong double-sided adhesive, and that adhesive is single use.

By ordering you accept that:

• the map is not designed to be removed and re-hung;
• removing it will damage weak paint, thin plaster or wallpaper, and may destroy the pieces;
• choosing the position is your decision, and it is a one-time decision;
• we are not responsible for damage to a wall caused by installing or removing the map.

We put this on the product page, on this page and in the box, because we would rather lose a sale than have this come as a surprise.

8 · Wood, and what varies

The maps are real birch, teak and walnut. Grain, figure and tone vary from sheet to sheet, and every edge is finished by hand. No two maps are identical, and the map you receive will not match a photograph pixel for pixel. That is the material, not a defect.

Screens vary too. Colours on your screen are an approximation.

The cartography is drawn from the Natural Earth 1:10m dataset. The maps are wooden artworks, not survey documents. The smallest islands are not cut, because they would not survive as pieces. Borders follow the dataset and are not a political statement.

9 · Warranty and liability

We warrant every map against manufacturing defects for 6 months from delivery. What is and is not covered is on the returns page.

Beyond that warranty, and to the extent Indian law allows, our total liability for any order is limited to what you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — damage to walls, decoration or other property, or loss of time or profit.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Nothing here affects your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

10 · Using the site

The site, the photographs, the renders, the copy, the Artlas name, the compass mark and the map artwork are owned by Artlas and protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may not copy, reproduce or use them commercially without our written permission.

Do not attempt to break, scrape, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site.

Any review, photograph or comment you post gives us permission to use it on the site and in our marketing, with attribution to the name you posted under.

11 · Complaints, law and jurisdiction

Talk to us first. Most things are settled in a WhatsApp message.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Pune, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any right you have to complain to a consumer forum where you live.

12 · Changes

We may update these terms. The version on this page at the time you order is the version that applies to your order.
